It manifests in various forms, often including poor communication, lack of support from management, and a pervasive sense of mistrust among team members. Employees in such settings frequently experience high levels of stress, leading to burnout and a decline in overall job satisfaction. Key characteristics of a toxic work culture include excessive criticism, favoritism, and a lack of recognition for achievements. Employees may feel undervalued or disrespected due to persistent negative attitudes among colleagues. In this type of environment, poor communication can create misunderstandings and exacerbate feelings of anxiety, discouraging teamwork and collaboration. Those in leadership roles may fail to provide adequate support, leaving employees feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Identifying a toxic workplace often requires recognizing the signs that may not be immediately apparent. For instance, if employees regularly express feelings of fear or reluctance to share ideas, it may indicate a culture where innovation is stifled. High turnover rates can also signal underlying toxic dynamics, as employees seek healthier work environments. Additionally, continuous conflicts between team members, coupled with a lack of resolution, further highlights the detrimental effects of a toxic workplace. The distinction between challenging work environments and genuinely toxic cultures is crucial. While all workplaces can experience stress and challenges, a toxic environment consistently hinders employee growth, well-being, and morale. The impact on mental health can be severe, contributing to anxiety and depression among staff. Understanding these characteristics and signs is the first step towards addressing and navigating through a toxic work culture, ultimately aiming for a healthier and more productive workplace. The Impact of Toxicity on Employees Toxic work culture significantly influences employees’ overall well-being, both personally and professionally. When an organization fosters an environment characterized by perpetual negativity, favoritism, or bullying, the repercussions extend far beyond mere discomfort. Employees often find themselves grappling with heightened levels of stress, anxiety, and even depression, leading to a decline in their mental health. Research indicates that individuals working in such environments report lower job satisfaction, which can lead to chronic stress and emotional exhaustion. In addition to the emotional toll, toxic workplaces hinder productivity and creativity. Employees operating in fear or uncertainty are less likely to take initiative, contribute innovative ideas, or collaborate effectively with colleagues. This constricted thinking often results in diminished performance, as individuals focus more on surviving the day rather than excelling in their roles. One employee noted, “I felt like I was walking on eggshells every day. The stress made it hard for me to concentrate, and my work suffered as a result.” Such sentiments are common among those exposed to a toxic culture. The long-term implications of sustaining such an unhealthy environment can be particularly alarming. Prolonged exposure to toxicity in the workplace may lead to career stagnation, where employees feel trapped and unable to progress professionally. This situation can further exacerbate feelings of inadequacy, contributing to a negative feedback loop. Furthermore, studies have linked toxic work environments to various physical health issues, such as cardiovascular disease and weakened immune response, raising concern over the broader implications for workforce health. Employees are not just facing immediate psychological impacts; they must also contend with the potential for lasting damage to their careers and physical well-being. As such, addressing and rectifying toxic workplace cultures is crucial for promoting healthy, productive, and sustainable work environments. Strategies for Addressing and Combating Toxic Work Culture Tackling toxic work culture necessitates concerted efforts from both employees and employers. For employees, prioritizing personal well-being is crucial. Seeking support from colleagues or professionals can provide perspective and assistance in navigating challenging situations. Establishing firm personal boundaries is essential; this enables individuals to delineate their professional responsibilities while safeguarding their mental health. Moreover, incorporating self-care into daily routines—whether through mindfulness practices, exercise, or engaging in hobbies—can greatly alleviate the stress associated with a toxic environment. From an organizational standpoint, fostering a culture of open communication is vital. Employers should encourage employees to voice their concerns without fear of reprisal. Implementing regular feedback loops, such as surveys or one-on-one check-ins, can help identify areas of concern and facilitate improvements. Establishing clear expectations around behavior and performance is equally important; this clarity helps mitigate misunderstandings that may contribute to a toxic atmosphere. In addition, organizations should consider providing resources for conflict resolution. Training programs in effective communication, conflict management, and emotional intelligence can equip employees with essential skills to address interpersonal challenges proactively. These strategies not only build resilience but also promote a culture of respect and collaboration. Creating a positive work environment requires ongoing commitment and vigilance. Emphasizing teamwork and shared goals can further strengthen bonds among colleagues, creating a sense of community that counters elements of toxicity. By valuing contributions and recognizing achievements, employers can inspire motivation and loyalty, ultimately diminishing the prevalence of toxic traits. Together, these strategies can significantly impact the overall health of the workplace, paving the way for success and fulfillment for all involved. When to Consider Leaving a Toxic Work Environment Recognizing when it might be time to leave a toxic work culture can be a difficult decision. However, there are several indicators that suggest the situation may not improve, even with personal effort. If you find yourself consistently experiencing stress, dissatisfaction, and decline in mental health, it may signal that the environment is detrimental to your well-being. Frequent occurrences of burnout, anxiety, or depression linked to work conditions are crucial signs that warrant serious consideration of your future in the organization. Additionally, if communication has broken down, and trust is nonexistent among colleagues and management, the potential for positive change diminishes. A workplace where negative behaviors such as favoritism or bullying are prevalent can hinder personal growth and professional satisfaction. If attempts to address these issues have been met with resistance or dismissal, it is likely that the culture is entrenched, which may further encourage unhealthy dynamics. Evaluating your personal and

Read MoreIntroduction to Business Problems in Canada Canada presents a dynamic business environment shaped by its vast geographical and cultural diversity, which consequently leads to a myriad of business challenges. The contemporary business landscape in Canada is influenced by various economic factors, and understanding these intricacies is vital for both new and established businesses aiming for sustainable growth and competitiveness. Companies are required to navigate through an array of challenges, including regulatory compliance, market volatility, and shifts in consumer preferences, all of which significantly impact operational strategies. In recent years, Canada has experienced shifts due to globalization, technological advancements, and evolving demographics. For instance, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play an integral role in the Canadian economy, constituting a substantial portion of the overall business landscape. However, these businesses often face tougher challenges in accessing capital, adapting to new technologies, and competing with larger corporations that have more resources at their disposal. Moreover, economic fluctuations and uncertainties can lead to increased operational risks, requiring businesses to develop robust risk management strategies. Furthermore, the provincial differences in regulations and market conditions present unique challenges to business owners. For example, companies operating in resource-rich provinces may face different obstacles compared to those situated in urban centers focused on service-based sectors. Understanding this diversity is crucial for businesses attempting to tailor their strategies to local conditions and consumer needs effectively. Recognizing and addressing these business problems is essential for improving efficiency, driving innovation, and ensuring long-term viability in the Canadian market. By acknowledging the current trends and issues, businesses can position themselves more effectively within the competitive landscape, making informed decisions that align with market demands and regulatory requirements. Economic Challenges Facing Canadian Businesses The Canadian business landscape is continually shaped by various economic challenges that can impact companies across different sectors. One significant factor is the volatility of commodity prices, which has a direct effect on industries such as energy, agriculture, and mining. Fluctuations in these prices can influence cash flow significantly, with businesses often finding it difficult to forecast revenues accurately. The reliance on commodity exports means that Canadian companies must remain agile in their strategies to mitigate risks associated with price changes. Another critical challenge stems from international trade agreements. As Canada engages in trade agreements with various countries, the economic impacts can be mixed. While some businesses may benefit from reduced tariffs and broader market access, others may face increased competition from foreign companies. The ongoing adjustments to these trade policies require Canadian businesses to frequently reassess their market position. Adjusting to the complexities of international trade can lead to regulatory hurdles, further complicating expansion and operational strategies. Regulatory challenges can also create obstacles for Canadian businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The varying levels of compliance required across provinces can stifle growth and result in higher operational costs. For instance, issues related to taxation, labor laws, and environmental regulations often demand significant resources from companies striving to adhere to legal standards, which can ultimately hinder their competitiveness. Moreover, economic downturns such as recession and inflation can exacerbate these challenges. Many businesses experience contraction in their markets, leading to reduced investment and job cuts. Historical examples illustrate that during economic slowdowns, some companies struggle to survive, while innovators use these times to re-evaluate and adapt their business models. Understanding these economic challenges allows Canadian businesses to navigate the complexities of the market more effectively and develop strategies that enhance their resilience. Workforce and Talent Acquisition Issues In Canada, businesses are increasingly facing significant challenges pertaining to workforce management and talent acquisition. One of the primary hurdles is the pronounced skills gap, which arises when the available workforce does not possess the necessary competencies required by employers. This discrepancy is particularly evident in sectors such as technology, healthcare, and skilled trades, where demand for specialized skills often outstrips supply. Consequently, companies struggle to fill crucial positions, hampering overall productivity and growth. Employee retention is another critical challenge that Canadian businesses encounter. High turnover rates can create instability, disrupting operations and increasing recruitment costs. Factors contributing to this issue include a lack of career advancement opportunities, insufficient workplace support, and a desire among employees for better work-life balance. As organizations vie for top talent, fostering a positive work culture becomes essential. Initiatives such as mentorship programs, flexible work arrangements, and employee engagement activities can enhance job satisfaction and loyalty. Moreover, competition for talent has intensified across various industries, further complicating recruitment efforts. Companies not only compete with other local firms but also face the allure of international opportunities. The impact of immigration policies cannot be overlooked; restrictive measures can diminish the labor pool and exacerbate existing shortages. To counter these challenges effectively, businesses should implement strategically structured recruitment processes that emphasize inclusivity and diversity, thereby tapping into a broader talent base. In addition, investing in workforce training programs can help bridge the skills gap, ensuring that employees are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to excel in their roles. By recognizing these interconnected issues, employers can develop targeted strategies aimed at not only attracting but also retaining high-quality talent. By addressing these workforce and talent acquisition challenges head-on, businesses in Canada can enhance their operational efficiency and long-term viability. Innovation and Technology Challenges In Canada, businesses encounter various challenges when it comes to adopting and integrating new technologies. One of the primary barriers is a lack of funding. Many companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), often struggle to secure the necessary capital to invest in innovative solutions. This funding gap can significantly hinder their ability to compete in an increasingly digital marketplace, where technological advancement is critical for longevity and success. Additionally, there is a prevalent resistance to change among some organizations. Employees and management may be hesitant to adopt new technologies due to fears about job security, the complexity of new systems, or a lack of familiarity with digital tools. This resistance can create a cultural barrier, where the potential benefits of innovation are overlooked in favor
Read More25 Ways to Increase Online Sales Increasing online sales is the primary goal of countless businesses, large and small alike. Whether you run a mom-and-pop retail business or work for a vast e-commerce giant like Amazon, increasing sales through online channels is a little like bowling a strike – it looks a lot easier than it is. Fortunately, there are dozens of ways you can make more sales online, many of which you can implement right away. Some of these tips focus on specific strategies you can implement, whereas others are more generalized. In this post, we’ll be looking at 25 such strategies, so whether you sell physical goods or run a service-based business, here are 25 actionable techniques you can use to increase online sales performance. 1. Be Honest in Your Sales Copy This might seem painfully obvious, but it’s amazing to me how many sites write checks their products can’t cash. Not only is honesty in your copy crucial to your business’ reputation, it also fosters and encourages trust in your brand. Don’t make claims you can’t substantiate, and don’t use hyperbole lightly – today’s consumers are hypersensitive to marketing BS, so be honest, straightforward, and approachable in all your sales copy, from your homepage to your email campaigns. This principle also applies to how you position yourself as a business. Ever come across a site that’s obviously run by one or two people, but features copy that would be better suited to a multinational enterprise company? This approach not only makes you look foolish, it also damages your brand’s credibility. If you’re a small company, take pride in that and be upfront about it – many consumers are turning to smaller businesses precisely because of the more individualized, personal service they can offer. Don’t try to be something you’re not. 2. Get More Ad Clicks with Ad Extensions If you’re selling stuff online, ad extensions are a no-brainer – this feature (available in both AdWords and Bing) allows you to make your ad bigger with more places to click. And it doesn’t cost any extra! AND it increases your ad’s click-through rate! Amazing, right? 3. Show Off Customer Testimonials and Trust Signals In today’s social media environment, customer feedback has never been more important. Fortunately, this means that your satisfied customers can provide you with one of the most valuable weapons in your arsenal – testimonials. Legions of satisfied customers are considerably more influential than even the best-written sales copy, so make sure you include gushing testimonials and reviews from your hardcore brand evangelists gushing about how wonderful you are. These might appear on your product pages, landing pages, pricing page, even your home page. For more info, check out my post on the power of customer testimonials. Similarly, the inclusion of trust signals can be an excellent way to increase online sales and/or average order value, as it creates a more favourable perception of your brand in the mind of the prospect and can potentially overcome hesitations preemptively. If your business has any professional accreditations (even something as routine as a Better Business Bureau certification or membership to your local chamber of commerce), put these trust signals front and center on your site. If you have an impressive list of satisfied clients, make sure your prospects know about it. 4. Create a Sense of Urgency It’s important to be honest and transparent about who you are and what you do, but there’s no rule against creating a sense of urgency to persuade prospects to buy from you right now. Many consumers respond positively to incentives that create a sense of urgency, from time-sensitive special offers to limited-edition products. Although the ways you can accomplish this are as diverse as the products you can buy online, some strategies may be more effective than others. For example, if you don’t (or can’t) make a limited-edition product to entice prospects, maybe you can offer a financial incentive to customers who commit to a purchase right away, such as free shipping or a discount. However you choose to do it, creating a sense of urgency is a great way to increase online sales. 5. Offer a Bulletproof Money-Back Guarantee Oftentimes, one of the most powerful factors in a consumer’s decision not to buy something is risk aversion – the desire to avoid a potential loss. Most times, this perceived risk is a financial one. Why should someone buy your products? What if they don’t work, or the customer doesn’t like them? Even small purchases can carry the risk of “buyer’s remorse,” so overcome this objection from the outset by offering a bulletproof money-back guarantee. The more risk you remove from the prospect’s decision, the more likely they are to buy from you, so take away anything that could dissuade prospects from buying from you. 6. Offer Fewer Choices To many businesses, this concept is simply unthinkable. Surely offering more products is a great way to increase sales! Well, not necessarily. In fact, in many instances, a greater variety of choices can lead to indecision on the part of the prospect, which in turn results in lost sales. If you have a wide range of products, consider structuring your site or product pages in a way that offers visitors as few choices as possible. This reduces the possibility that the visitor will be overwhelmed by dozens of different products. This can be accomplished by arranging your products into increasingly narrow categories (a bonus of which is offering visitors greater ease in finding exactly what they’re looking for), or you could place greater emphasis on fewer individual products. Either way, remember that the more choices you provide, the more likely a customer is to bounce and go elsewhere. 7. Target Lookalike Audiences on Facebook One of the best ways to increase online sales is to use the data you have about your existing customers to find people just like them. Facebook allows you to do this through the targeting of lookalike audiences. Lookalike audiences in Facebook are essentially users on Facebook

Costing less than what came before, some corners had to be cut with these wireless earphones. But the overall package? Very impressive. These in-ear buds actually have more to offer than you’d expect at the price point. For more about them, check out our review of the Huawei FreeBuds 4i. BETTER-LOOKING, NICE-FITTING The Huawei FreeBuds 4i aren’t the most compact TWS earphones around, especially with their plastic charging case prioritizing battery life over a handier, smaller footprint. And that’s okay. These earbuds are generally easy to travel with and can fit most small purses and jeans pockets without leaving a highly noticeable bulge. In terms of looks, the charging case has eschewed the long, candybar form factor of last year’s FreeBuds 3i in favor of a more rounded, pebble-like design that fits in the hand nicely. It shuts securely, and we never found the earphones falling out of the case opening up accidentally. The buds got a facelift, too, and now have shorter but thicker stems that are easier to pick up and hold. They have strong magnets at the tip of their stems, so you don’t need to worry about them sliding out and dropping onto the floor. Each bud has a touch sensor for audio-playback controls and cycling through Noise Cancelling, Off, and Awareness modes. You still get rubber tips for improved comfort and fit. The silicone also provides some passive noise cancellation once the earbuds are snugly in place. Huawei ships different-sized rubber tips in the retail box, so most users should be able to find a secure fit. The pair button is located on the right side of the case. A long press puts the Huawei FreeBuds 4i into pairing mode. At the bottom, you’ll find a USB-C port for convenient top-ups. A USB-C cable will be included in the retail package, but not a power adapter, as is typical for the category. WILL THE HUAWEI FREEBUDS 4I PAIR WITH MY DEVICE? Before diving into audio performance, let’s discuss pairing and Huawei‘s AI Life application, which you’ll need to install first on your Android device to take advantage of all the features the FreeBuds 4i offer. These buds support Bluetooth 5.2 and can be connected to any Bluetooth-enabled device. You can pair them with your iPhone or laptop as you would a set of generic wireless earphones. The wireless connection was stable and never missed a beat throughout our testing across different devices on different platforms. However, take note that the Huawei FreeBuds 4i doesn’t support Bluetooth multipoint, which lets you connect two devices at once. They will only sync with one gadget at a time. But they will connect automatically once you open the case and a nearby paired device’s Bluetooth is switched on. AI Life is available on the Google Play Store and Huawei’s own AppGallery app storefront. However, the app on the Play Store is outdated and hasn’t been updated in almost a year, so you might run into trouble pairing your phone with the FreeBuds 4i; initially, ours didn’t show up on the app. Naturally, the solution is to download AI Life from AppGallery if you own a Huawei device, or scan the QR code on the retail box for a link to the software. Once installed, you should be able to connect your FreeBuds 4i to the app to check the battery levels of each earphone as well as the charging case. You can likewise customize the buds’ touch controls, in case you want to assign a different set of shortcuts for each bud. The AI Life app doesn’t come with its own equalizer; you’ll need to use the one preloaded on your device, or use a media player that includes equalizer-adjustment options like Huawei Music. The music-streaming app actually has settings for the FreeBuds 4i and other Huawei audio products. Out of the box, the double-tap and long-press gestures are assigned to play/pause and mode select (Noise Cancelling, Off, or Awareness), respectively. Off is the default setting here, which means you’ll need to long-press one of the buds or open AI Life on your device to activate noise cancellation or Awareness mode. ANC AND AUDIO QUALITY The Huawei FreeBuds 4i’s active-noise-cancellation feature works by analyzing the noise in your environment through the microphones on each earphone, producing a waveform of the said noise, and then creating the anti-noise to cancel out unwanted sound waves. This feature works best with constant, low-frequency sound, such as the hum of a fan at lower speeds and the noise of a gas engine running. Having said that, the ANC on the FreeBuds 4i works hard to neutralize background sound, and, more often than not, manages to do so reasonably well. During our test, the earbuds did a consistently commendable good job of detecting ambient noise and reducing it significantly. It helps that the in-ear design and silicone tips provide a tight seal around your ear to bolster the quieting effect. If you don’t own any premium headphones with active noise cancellation, you would likely be impressed by how well these buds can drown out distractions around you. Inside, the Huawei FreeBuds 4i boast 10mm, dynamic-coil drivers, along with what Huawei calls “sensitive polymer-composing diaphragms.” Basically, this means their internals incorporate a material that will help the earphones deliver higher-quality audio than the competition. In practice, we found that claim to be close to the mark. These buds sound great for the price. As a daily driver, they can fill most needs. They can get loud and bassy when they want to; the sound performance is punchy yet balanced when streaming Huawei Music or Spotify; the vocals are clear and don’t faint at higher volume levels; and the treble is good, too. Also important: The latency isn’t as bad as other wireless earphones when gaming. BATTERY LIFE The earbuds have a 55mAh battery each, while the case
Read MoreWhy People Wear Clothes Clothing does much more than just cover your body. Your appreciation of clothing will be broadened as you become more aware of the influences clothing has on you. Throughout history, clothing has had great meaning. It has indicated people’s handicraft skills, artistic imagination, and cultural rituals. Prehistoric people clothed their bodies over 75,000 years ago. This has been shown by the discoveries of ancient cave drawings statues, and remains of materials used for making clothing. From beginning, clothing has served the same basic human needs. Those needs are protection, adornment and identification and modesty and status. (social needs) Protective clothing To preserve good physical health, clothing protects us from cold temperatures. It can protect us from sunshine or high winds. It can also protect us from the wetness of rain. War sweaters, coats, gloves, and long underwear can protect us from frigid weather and snow. Wide-brimmed hats can keep hot sunshine off our faces and heads. Sunglasses and hats are sometimes worn as fashion items as well as for protection. Fur pelts were essential for warmth and protection long ago. People need physical protection from dirt, insects, and other harmful agents in the environment. Shoes protect our feet from soil, hard objects, and hot and cold surfaces. Astronauts must have protective clothing to provide them with the correct atmospheric conditions to keep them alive in outer space. In the medical profession, special clothing items, such as sterile gloves and face masks, help reduce the transfer of germs and maintain sanitation. Natives of some geographic regions need protective clothing against insects, worms, and leeches. The swish of a grass skirt is meant to keep insects away. Some tropical natives grease their bodies. Some plaster mud on themselves for physical protection. These body coverings are substitutes for clothing and accomplish similar protective results.

But for untold generations, that’s exactly the role kitchen pantries have performed. You’d be surprised how many everyday staples have a successful second career as natural medicine. After all, it’s a lot quicker, simpler, and cheaper to make a paste of baking soda and water and dab it on a bug bite than it is to drive to the drugstore for an expensive anti-itch cream. Ahead, you’ll discover the remarkable healing benefits of many familiar, inexpensive items that are already sitting right there on our pantry shelves. you’ll learn how to harness the healing power of time-tested staples like honey, vinegar, baking soda, and plain old salt. The antinausea power of ginger. The heart protection of canned salmon and sardines. Mustard’s unique ability to fight athlete’s foot; and turmeric’s potential for preventing serious chronic diseases and even cancer. Aloe Aloe is one of the most versatile kitchen healers around but please don’t keep this one in your pantry. Instead, you’ll want to grow the spiny succulent plant on your windowsill, because its stalky leaves contain a gel-like substance that healers think of as Mother nature’s first aid kit. Aloe is mainly used for acne, age spots, athlete’s foot, blisters, burns(minor), canker sores, cold sores, dandruff, eczema, dry hair, light wrinkles, gum problems, heat rash, haemorrhoids, nosebleed, psoriasis, razor burn, shingles, stings and bites, sunburn, ulcers, warts etc.. What’s in it? Though aloe is 99% water, the clear gel inside the leaves contains a handy assortment of potent healing compounds, Take glycoproteins speed healing by stopping pain and inflammation. Polysaccharides moisturize skin, stimulate its growth and repair, and enhance wound healing. Aloe plans produce another substance called aloe latex, which comes from the skin of the aloe leaf. It’s a better yellow liquid that performs as a powerful laxative. Too powerful, in fact. Classified as a stimulant laxative, it can cause severe cramping and diarrhoea and can even affect your electrolyte balance, minerals that play a critical role in the body. Trust us, this is not good medicine for irregularity or constipation. Tips The best aloe gel comes directly from a living plant. Just chop off a nice, thick stalk, slice it lengthwise, and squeeze the gel directly onto your skin. Be sure not to get the goo on your clothes; it will leave a ugly stain. You can find aloe plants at most places live plants are sold. They respond very well to almost no attention and grow nicely on a sunny windowsill. No aloe plant? No problem. You can find pure aloe gel at most health food stores online. Just read the label carefully to make sure the product is 100% pure aloe he’ll with no additional ingredients. Baking Soda Baking soda is without question the hardest working multitasker on your pantry shelf. It’s also an effective and green household cleaner and a deodorizer that de-stinks cat pans, garbage cans, refrigerator interiors, and other smelly things even feet and underarms. Baking soda is a mildly alkaline salt that reacts easily with acids, releasing carbon dioxide and creating effervescence. Good old fashioned baking soda has recently captured the attention of kidney disease researchers. This cheap pantry time may slow the decline of kidney function in some people who have advanced chronic kidney disease. Baking soda’s ability to take the itch and sting out of a variety of skin problems comes from its alkaline nature. Baking soda meets standards as a safe food additive and can be used freely, with no critical caveats. First, anyone on a sodium-restricted diet should consult a physician before taking it internally, because it could increase sodium levels. Second, because baking soda contains sodium, don’t use it regularly if you have high blood pressure or heart failure. Cayenne pepper People who don’t like spicy foods often think that hot-pepper lovers are savaging their mouths and digestive systems. The hotter a chilli pepper is, the more capsaicin it contains. Capsaicin short-circuits pain by depleting nerve cells of a chemical called substance P, which helps transfer pain signals along nerve ending to the brain. Because of the pain-depleting action, you will find in many prescription and over-the-counter creams, ointments and patches for arthritis and muscle pain. Capsaicin also is a metabolism booster, speeding up your calorie-burning furnace for a complete hours after eating. Finally, hot peppers contain plenty of vitamin A and C along with flavonoids and carotenoids, plant pigments that act as antioxidants. Cayenne pepper is available in the spice section at the supermarket. It is also known as ground red pepper. Fresh cayenne pepper can burn or irritate the skin. Wear rubber gloves when handling fresh hot peppers, don’t touch your eyes or nose, and wash hands after preparing them. Same goes for the spice use a utensil to measure and add to recipes, not your fingers. If you use topical capsaicin creams, be sure to follow label directions. Because cayenne shrinks blood vessels in your nose and throat, it helps relieve congestion when you sprinkle some into hot soup. Or shake in as much as you can tolerate of hot sauce or other fiery condiments for the same congestion-busting effects. Chamomile When the day has frazzled your nerves to the extent that you feel like pulling your hair out, it’s time to sit down and have a nice cup of chamomile tea. This herb is wonderful for easing digestive distress, skin irritations, and occasional mild insomnia. Chamomile tea is made from the tiny daisy-like flowers of a lazy leafed plant that now grows all over the world. Back in the day, chamomile tea provided a medicine chest’s worth of useful remedies. Its lists of treatable conditions included cold-related symptoms, stomach and gastrointestinal problems, toothache, convulsions, and insomnia. People used chamomile as a gargle or antiseptic wash and inhaled the tea’s steam to reduce congestion and clear up irritations throughout the respiratory
Read MoreThe End of Noise Noise Pollution is a problem so intrinic to modern city living that most of us hardly realize we’re affected by it. Whiles its specific affects may be debatable, there’s no denying its unfailing ability to increase our stress levels. A major group of people who are affected by prevalent noise are those who rack up frequent flyer miles. While occasional tourists might find the roar of that 747 engine tolerable, business flyers tend to want to get as much shut-eye as they can in the sky. The Difference While often regarded by concerned parents as one of the biggest preventable causes of hearing losses, headphones are more than just entertainment conduits for the upwardly mobile. They provide that much needed isolation from our immediate surroundings and allow us our little sphere of personal privacy. Most of us are probably accustomed tot he various types of headphones available: regular ear-buds, headphones which go on top of as well as around ears and canal phones that fit inside the ear-canal. What most of these headphones have in common is that they are all a form of passive noise reduction. What noise-cancelling headphones do is to actively reduce this noise with the help of a tiny onboard computer. How it works There are some basic construction elements distinct to noise-cancelling headphones. First, they tend to be over or around-the-ear headphones. This design provides for more comfortable long term usage as well as good degree of passive isolation. While there are some canal-phone varieties that have added noise-cancelling circuitry, the in-ear design makes them slightly fatiguing for extended listening. There are main three elements in a pair of noise-cancelling headphone. The first is of course the main speaker driver which plays the music. Next you have a microphone, or set of microphones that pick up ambient noise and lastly there’s the electronic noise cancelling circuitry which analyses the incoming sound waves from the microphone. Whats Good out There? Noise cancelling headphones are not a recent phenomenon, but they have been getting considerably more affordable over the past year and are no longer sole dominations of major players. We must admit that Bose’s choice of memory foam for the ear pads really pays off at creating a snug fit as well as a good grip on the ears. The cushioning on the headband is rather thin though which makes feel just a little less snug than they should. Best Selling on Amazon. Buy Now.

The concentrated essences of various flowers, fruits, herbs and plants have been used for centuries all over the world, but in modern times we have forgotten the power of these ancient medicines of the earth, preferring instead to use the products of perfume and chemical companies which imitate the natural fragrances and medicinal and cleansing properties of essential oils. Because the essential oils are so sweet-smelling, many people suppose their value is essentially one of charm and fragrance but this is a mistake. Modern scientific research has proven that essential oils are potent, with remarkable medicinal properties. These natural plant oils can be used to treat your child’s flu or called upon when you want to create a delicious and exciting new dish when the boss is invited to dinner. They will get rid of the fleas from your dog’s coat as easily as the aphids from your garden plants. They will help you at work or play – at the same time as helping your tomatoes to grow. With essential oils, you can take control of your life and environment, secure int he knowledge that your well-being will be improved. The holy anointing oil that God directed Moses to make from “flowing” myrrh, sweet cinnamon, calamus, cassia, and olive oil, would have been a powerful antiviral and antibiotic substance, the use of which gave protection and treatment to all those to whom it was administered. Cinnamon is a powerful antiviral and antibacterial agent as well as being antifungal. Myrrh is an effective antiseptic and on the best cicatrisants – that is, it stimulates cellular growth and its healing effects on upon wounds, ulcers, and boils was legendary even before Biblical times. The Timeless Apothecary Hippocrates, the father of medicine, said that “the way to health is to have an aromatic bath and scented massage every day”. Our earliest written evidence that perfume was a commodity commonly available to the man or woman in the street comes from an Indian epic of 2000BC, the Ramayana, which includes an episode in which the hero-prince, Rama of Ayodhya returns after a period of exile to a triumphant homecoming in his village. Everyone, we are told, pours into the street cheering, including the lamp-makers, jewellers, potters, bath-attendants, wine-sellers, weavers, sword-millers, perfumers, and incense-sellers. The scientific study of the therapeutic properties of essential oils was started by the French cosmetic chemist, Rene Maurice Gattefosse, in the 1920s. While making fragrances one day in his laboratory, Gattefosse burned his arm very badly and thrust it into the nearest cold liquid – which happened to be a tub of lavender oil. He was surprised to find that the pain lessened considerably and that, far from developing into a normal burn reaction of redness, heat, inflammation, and blisters his wound healed very quickly and left no scar. From then on, Gattefosse dedicated the rest of his life to researching the remarkable healing properties of nature’s essential oils. It was he who coined the term “aromatherapy“. The Methods of Use BODY METHODS Perfume — Variable — There are two methods; you can use either simply dissolved in alcohol or oil and apply to the body as you would a perfume or incorporate them into a perfume. Jacuzzi — 3 drops per person Sauna — 2 drops per two and a half cups water — Use eucalyptus, tea tree, or pine oils. Mix in the water beforehand and throw on to the heat source as usual. Read MoreMama’s First Baby need a lovely care… A lot changed in my life after I became pregnant. I used to be the person who would love to experiment with every new range of cosmetic product that hit the shelves. But once I saw those two faint blue lines, I stopped and read the labels, checked for the safety of my growing foetus and researched like a mad woman on sustainable, eco-friendly, natural sources of everything. But reality was a dampener – nothing was pure, innocent or natural. I was beyond shocked when I learnt that a very popular brand of baby cosmetics, since time immemorial, was rife with rash horror stories and even had legal battles in international courts for causing severe harm to human life. This was almost an eye-opener for me that we needed to pay more attention to what goes inside and on our bodies. So when babyT did arrive I made sure he was surrounded by only products which were natural, homemade, healthy and safe. I will admit though that finding the right kind of baby products for bath, skin and hair was a bit challenging. There were a dime-a-dozen products and each with varying reviews… five good ingredients and one totally worth avoiding. It was so confusing, especially in his new-born days to choose the most effective yet safe product for him. BabyT was also born with baby acne and has dry skin with bouts of atopic dermatitis which makes it even more difficult for me to just pick a product off the shelf. That’s where MamaEarth won for me, a brand by a parent, for a parent to use on their precious little bambinos. Haathi mera Saathi! – #MamaEarth’s Gentle Cleansing Shampoo The main things I look for in a shampoo are gentle and tear free. BabyT has a lush mane and I have had bad experiences of using certain shampoos on him, which have left him in tears (despite being baby shampoo) and his hair not so soft. So the fact that #MamaEarth’s shampoo did both – kept him happy during his head bath and put a spring in his lovely curls, made me very happy. The scent of this shampoo is quite similar to the massage oil, which is lavender and was supremely soothing. It put babyT right to sleep after his hair wash. It lathers up well and one wash was sufficient to even take the hair oil out. Together the massage oil, shampoo and body lotion have become a set part of our bathing routine. I am now tempted to order their body wash and have a complete #MamaEarth bathing experience here. Best Selling on Amazon. Buy Now.
